The seat has gone through a few iterations to it’s current form. From the original, it was first extended by a few inches as a result of a longer swingarm, then raised another couple inches to improve ergonomics for Amy, the new (taller) rider.

Seat Extension (2017)

The seat extension was actually prompted by a longer swingarm that moved the rear of the seat back by 2 inches. This elongated room for the rider and lowered the bike overall — both making it more comfortable!

New Rider Ergonomics (2020-21)

All about the ergonomics. Raising the seat was one of several changes that opened up the tuck for my knees and ankles so I could get my feet on the pegs more easily and shift with more force.

#related Getting the Fit Just Right for the New Rider We spent a day moving the pegs around and trying different foam heights on the seat to settle on the new rider position. Once the height was finalized, the foam was cut and shaped for the new seat.

The new seat worked great (covered in duct tape) for the June 2021 rookie run, then was professionally covered in red leather for the September 2021 race.

Thank you BJ’s Auto Trim in Costa Mesa!! He added soft foam for better appearance and comfort, and wrapped it tight with the perfect red leather.
